In some countries, where they don't consider Bitcoin as an actual currency- Which is why it doesn't count as "gambling" I mean, you can still get arrested for illegal gambling. It is counted as a currency in the United States. But, in Canada, it is counted as a "Specified foreign property": which means, you still have to declare it in your taxes. That means that it isn't a currency, which means, if you're playing online poker with it- you aren't really making "money". Since in most countries, gambling is considered as, wagering/betting money in games/sports matches. So, if any of you Bitcoin casino owners get arrested in countries where Bitcoin isn't considered as a currency, you can't be arrested. Since, it's not considered as "money" in many countries. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The /wallstreetbets GME retail investors vs the 0.1% situation has lead me to a place of clarity. The game is rigged, and the owners of the system will react with haste and break any laws they must to protect their cartel. For those not following the event
- Retail investors, realised the shares of GME and some other companies were heavily shorted and in short supply, so they started buying in the hope of forcing a short squeeze (whereby the holder of the shorts will then have to buy more stock to cover their shorts, sending the price through the roof, an example is Volkswagen [VW] in the 2000's). This is perfectly legal.
- the plan worked, GME went from $2 to $470 in a short space of time.
- Melvin Capital, a Hedge fund took a massive (likely $6 billion) short position in GME and faced closure if the bet went against them, they were losing money at a fast rate and got a bail out last week by other wall street Hedge funds.
- Melvin Capital then went on CNBC and other networks to reveal they had closed their short positions, it's highly unlikely as the options volume did not back up their claim, they were simply spreading disinformation, again this is perfectly legal
- the retail investors at /wallstreetbets simply would not give up, they kept buying, the end goal could have seen the stock reach $5K based on the VW scenario.
- the 0.1% moved to then protect the 0.1% from losing money by using the stock brokerages they own or control(Robinhood, TD, IB and all the other big players) to firstly prevent the retail investors buying more stock, you could simply not buy these stocks, you could only sell, some companies even forcibly closed down open options positons even in the absense of margin calls, so your account is in good standing with enough liquidity and they decide which stock you can have and which you can not, in this time big institutions are allowed to buy as much of this stock as they desire, just the retail traders are locked out of the casino. This is highly illegal and known as market manipulation, it also flies in the face of the idea that we have a free market.

The guys at /wallstreetbets simply did not understand that in our world only old money gets to make real money, the little guy must be shut down and should never have a slice of the action, all he gets is inflation and a 9 to 5 job, plus side hustle if he/she's lucky. All the years I talked trash about bitcoin, I apologise, now I genuinely understand the value of having a system not controlled by the government, where they can not on a whim decide to inflate the money supply and bail out their friends, while you carry the load in the form of additional taxes and inflation.

I just used bitcoin for the first time for a deposit on Bovada, thinking it would save on fees. My $100 turned into less than $82. I used a coinbase account and transferred to a blockchain wallet, as suggested by Bovada. WTF?

It is my believe that private games that are raked are illegal to run, but not to play in. Is this true?? If this is the case, I’m not involved in anything else illegal so i would have no issue with them investigating me. Other regs don’t think it’s an issue but I don’t see how it can not be. Do I just deposit lump sums and hope for the best? I won’t even mind paying tax to get it all into my account so I can invest it but aware I’m not suppose to get taxed.

Iranian & Chinese products to replace Turkish

Armenia will import 2250 types of products from Iran instead of Turkey, amid the 6-month ban on Turkish product imports. "This will be a good opportunity for Iranian producers. In the next step, [Armenia] will supply its required raw materials from Iran," said the chief of the Iranian trade agency.

The process to install Armenian and Azeri troops continues on the new borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan, in the Syunik province. The border was formerly Syunik (Armenia) - Qashatag (formerly Artsakh).
Syunik's Shurnukh and Vorotan were built on the immediate internationally-recognized border, and some of them were on the Azeri side. As a result, a dozen buildings will go under Azeri control. Shurnukh village mayor complained about losing several houses and Azeris being too close.

Russian humanitarian aid in Artsakh

1. Bitcoin creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, is still a mystery figure. Satoshi Nakamoto is the name used by the person who designed bitcoin but there’s still doubt about the real identity. Over the years, many people have been linked with the same, including Nick Szabo, Dorian Nakamoto, Hal Finney, Craig Steven Wright, and others. Some people consider Nakamoto might be a team of people. As of May 2017, Nakamoto is believed to own about 1 million bitcoins with a worth of more than $2 billion.
2. Bitcoins are limited in number. You might’ve heard about bitcoin mining, the process using which bitcoins are generated digitally. So, does this mean there could be an infinite number of bitcoins? That’s not the case. A pre-defined schedule has limited the number of bitcoins. They are slowly approaching a total of 21 million and the mining process is getting harder with each passing day.
3. It’s impossible to know the sendereceiver details. Bitcoin addresses are a long string of 34 alphanumeric characters. Using that address, it’s impossible to tell the recipient. Probably, this is the reason why most of the illegal transactions are carried out using bitcoins. 1. Bitcoin is highly volatile. Since its launch, in past, one-decade bitcoin has become one of the most important phenomenon in the digital world. Its price has touched thousands of dollars. However, the price keeps fluctuating and it remains volatile. Predictions have also been made that bitcoin might fall in the future if it follows the current path. This is because a small number of people, about 10, control the majority of bitcoin. This defeats the entire decentralized nature of the currency.

A token is just a claim slip. A coupon. Something that can be redeemed for a service or good. It has no monetary value in and of itself. It's value is a property of the good or service it can be legally redeemed for.
Legal tokens, like coupons, have to specify on them that you can't exchange them for monetary value. The fact you can't exchange them outside of their legally permissible uses, and the fact they have expiry dates, and various other restrictions, limits any potential use as a monetary medium of exchange. All tokens are regulated by governments, so as to not to destabilize their own fiat monetary systems.
There are lots of examples of tokens, like casino chips, parking permits, medical prescriptions, financial securities. The list is endless. Casino chips are tokens that people use to gamble with at casinos. They are accepted for monetary bets at the casino, however they have virtually no legal use in the broader economy. Nobody can legally buy them from you, other than the casino itself. Nobody will accept them in direct settlement of a transaction other than the person you are gambling with or the casino (or criminals). Selling your medical prescription to another person is definitely illegal. Transacting in financial securities is heavily regulated and monitored, why? Now they are not permitted to do this. Again, why? Cash can be too easily used for illegal purposes. Issuing new cash gives the person issuing it incredible power.
Bitcoin is cash for the internet age. It takes away that power, from everyone. Because power corrupts humans. While creating an even BETTER cash system than we ever had before, and can do so much more than the fiat cash we currently are familiar with.
In the future, utility tokens will have restrictions on their legal use, and will have to act within the law. They will have heavy restrictions on their use. They will not be permitted to continue to be freely traded, pumped and dumped, on dodgy exchanges by governments worldwide for much longer.

It's true that most traditional ponzi/pyramid schemes (Madoff etc...) collapse because they're obligated to provide unsustainable returns to their investors. However, pyramid schemes that force their sucker "investors" to eat their own losses typically don't collapse, at least not for a long time . Crypto is a perfect example of this dynamic at play, since exchanges are able to establish a consistent revenue stream of hard currency by manipulating the market against butters stupid enough to gamble on margin. The whole thing basically has the business model of a casino/pyramid scheme combined into one. Bitcoin doesn't run on electricity or software. It runs on sheer human stupidity, gullibility, and greed. MLMs like Harbalife largely function on the same principle (forcing the vast majority of suckers to eat their losses instead of guaranteeing an ultimately unsustainable return), which is why many MLMs have lasted for literally decades.
Something that u/thehoesmaketheman said on here that really stuck with me is that governments make pyramid schemes illegal because people love to "invest" in pyramid schemes otherwise. This can actually do profound damage to society if taken far enough, and while any given pyramid scheme might eventually collapse (depending on its structure), there will always be new schemes and new suckers. Crypto is a perfect space for generating both, as it is both digital and laughably unregulated. So I predict the Bitcoin/Crypto/Tether Rube Goldberg machine of stupidity and greed will keep going until governments finally wise up and make it illegal (if they ever do) because its just another scam at the end of the day. Hi all
Let me preface this by saying: yes, I know gambling large sums of money you can't afford to lose is extremely irresponsible. I'm currently seeking help for this. Just seeking some guidance from you kind folks about how to proceed with Uncle Sam.
Other details: 33, single, male, no kids. Owe about 25k in unsecured debt, 23k in student loans, and 40k to the IRS.
I make about 80 to 100k per year, pre-tax. The range is wide because most years I'm freelancing. I owe for multiple years dating back to 2013. 1. Say I end up owing the IRS 50 to 55k after the damage from this year. Will they still work with me to set up a payment plan? 2. Will the IRS garnish my wages or levy my assets for owing again for 2020? Or will they only do this if I don't file or don't contact them to set up a payment plan?

In contrast, the entire appeal of Ethereum is going from rags to riches in the altcoin casino, and casinos generally appeal to people who aren't rich. Golden Week traffic in Macau disappoints
Traffic in Macau fell 85.7% during Golden Week to come in well short of most expectations within the industry. Of the 139,280 visitors to enter during the holiday week, 97,126 came via the Gongbei Border Gate, 4,190 by ferry and 7,149 by plane. JPMorgan reset expectations on a Macau recovery after the Golden Week disappointment. "Choppy demand and dwindling hope of 'return to normalcy in 2021' make us acknowledge the sector's risk-reward isn't as attractive as we had envisioned, despite seemingly undemanding valuation (on 2022, not 2021)," updated the firm. Earlier this week, the Macau sector received some good news when Bernstein Research predicted that all six casino operators will retain their licenses, although the government is likely to impose additional economic conditions. The firm doesn't think the current tensions between Washington and Beijing will prevent U.S. operators from staying in Macau.

Takeda, Emergent BioSolutions (NYSE:EBS), CSL Behring (OTCPK:CSLLY) and Grifols (NASDAQ:GRFS) are gathering antibodies in the government trial, funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; it could be completed by year-end.
DOJ eyes cryptocurrency threats
The Department of Justice said in a new report that law enforcement is hampered by the global nature of digital coins and the lack of consistent regulation across regions. Cryptocurrencies in general are called detrimental to the safety and stability of the international financial system due to the opportunities for rogue nations, criminals and terrorists to skirt reporting requirements. "Current terrorist use of cryptocurrency may represent the first raindrops of an oncoming storm of expanded use,” stated Attorney General William Barr's Cyber-Digital Task Force. The task force warned that cryptocurrencies provide bad actors with the means to earn illegal profits and become a threat to national security. The DOJ's larger goal with the report is to lay out a framework for cryptocurrency enforcement.
China Services PMI runs hot
China September Caixin Services PMI came in at 54.8 to top both the consensus mark of 54.3 and the 54.0 reading for August. Services PMI has now increased for five straight months, and the latest rate of expansion was among the highest recorded over the past decade. Growth was supported by a marked rise in total new business, though new export work continued to decline. A sustained rise in overall client demand led firms to expand their payrolls for the second month in a row amid increased capacity pressures. Companies also retained a positive outlook regarding activity over the year ahead, with business confidence improving since August.
Chinese funds targeting Ant IPO draw $9B from millions of retail investors
Five Chinese funds targeting the upcoming mega-IPO of Ant Group (NYSE:BABA) sold out in days, having cumulatively raised about 60B yuan - or about $8.93B - from more than 10M retail investors. The funds launched Sept. 25 to raise 12B yuan each and invest up to 10% of assets to buy shares in the Ant IPO, aiming to raise about $35B in a Hong Kong/Shanghai dual listing and value the company at more than $250B.
